Hey Reader,
Welcome back!
It’s too hot in Phoenix to be outside anyway, so let’s learn something useful!
Confidence is a body language cheat code
Most people think “confidence” is something you either have or you don’t.
Like it’s some exclusive club with a velvet rope and a bouncer who already decided you’re not getting in.
Not true.
Confidence has a dress code, and once you know it, you can wear it anywhere.
Start with your Posture.
Shoulders down and back, head up high. Here’s a trick worth stealing: every time you walk through a door frame, treat it like you’re stepping onto a stage!
Do it enough times, and your body stops asking permission. It just shows up ready.
Now let’s talk Volume. Most people speak at whatever level feels comfortable, which usually means too quiet.
Bump your volume up 10 to 15 percent above what feels “natural”.
You’ll feel like you’re practically announcing yourself to the whole room.
You’re not. You just sound like someone worth listening to.
And then there’s Eye contact.
This one is sneaky because we look away without even realizing it.
Usually, right when we’re unsure of ourselves.
You don’t need to go full staredown mode.
Just make it a rule that you can remember the “color of their eyes”.
And when you finish a sentence, hold your gaze for one ‘extra beat’ before looking away.
That tiny pause does more heavy lifting than most people expect.
Posture, volume, eye contact.
Three things. Zero fancy equipment required.
The crazy part is, when you change your body… You also change your “state”.
By paying attention to these techniques, you’re going to FEEL more confident!
Stellar Summer Quotes
Since we just kicked off Summer…
“Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink the wild air.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“It’s a sure sign of summer if the chair gets up when you do.”
Walter Winchell
“As a kid, summer meant freedom. As an adult, it means checking whether the steering wheel is hot enough to qualify as a branding iron.”

Coca-Cola, whales, and an Olympic flame cigarette
Coca-Cola rented us a house in Norway for the Winter Olympics. A real house. With family photos still on the walls.
They also provided “Hans” as our personal guide.
We found out on our last day… that he was an undercover cop!
Yeah. It was that kind of trip, Reader!
That was the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, and it was absolutely wild from start to finish.
Norway in February is brutally cold.
Cold enough that forgetting to tuck your camera inside your jacket means the shutter button gives you actual frostbite. I had a little red ‘reminder’ on my index finger for days.
Cold enough that I stopped trying to figure out “Norwegian coins”. They hardly use paper money. I just held my hand out at every shop and let the cashier take what they needed. Trusting? Sure. Practical? Absolutely.
Our temporary “roommates” were Radio crews from Denver and San Francisco. Nice enough people. Very passionate about their ‘causes’.
One evening, we all gathered with some locals for a small get-together, and the conversation somehow landed on “whales”.
Specifically, “Saving the whales”. To Norwegians. In Norway.
A country basically built on whaling! That was about as smart as walking into Mexico City and announcing you’re anti-taco.
I jumped in with the locals immediately. Someone had to. And my line that whales were simply “gluttons of the deep” still holds up today.
But nothing topped watching my morning partner, “The World Famous Goat Boy”, light a cigarette off the actual Olympic flame for a photo!
We got the shot… And we got escorted out within seconds.
Those stories live in my head because they came from real moments in the field.
Maybe it’s time to speak up and share YOUR stories more often.
